PD0203). Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE ICA10/94370551 AB OBJECTIVE: To highlight the influence that violence and the issue of current elections have on the work of NGO's and AIDS. METHOD: A review of the health position of political parties to investigate whether the health issues especially AIDS are appropriately addressed. An analysis of the positions will be made and appropriate proposals forwarded through the relevant channels. DISCUSSION: Violence impedes the work on AIDS at grassroots level and the coming elections will compound the situation. NGO's are concerned about the present government's view and commitment regarding the prevention of AIDS and the funding thereof as a national health priority. RECOMMENDATION: During the post-election era efforts of the elected government should be focused on the prevention and education of AIDS.
